All year round, there is a wide variety of excursions and activities to enjoy in the area around the holiday home – the gallery gives you a taste of what’s on offer and highlights the best the local area has to offer.

When the first rays of sunshine warm the valleys and nature awakens in lush green, Carinthia reveals its gentle side. Flowering alpine meadows, clear mountain streams and mild temperatures invite you to go hiking, cycling and relaxing.
It’s a time of new beginnings – the perfect time to recharge your batteries and experience nature’s reawakening at first hand. The last patches of snow are melting, and the crisp air and first rays of sunshine invite you to explore.
Summer in Carinthia is a feast for all the senses. Over 200 lakes suitable for swimming, with water of drinking-water quality, offer perfect conditions for water sports, a spot of swimming or simply relaxing on the shore. The mountains beckon with scenic summit hikes, whilst rustic huts invite you to enjoy a snack featuring regional specialities.
Lake Ossiach is just a few minutes’ walk away; the water warms up to 28 degrees and has gently sloping pebble beaches. Stand-up paddleboarding, pedalos, rubber ring rides, paragliding or water skiing – walking trails start right on your doorstep. Since 1936, Villach has celebrated the Villacher Kirchtag at the end of July – Austria’s biggest traditional festival with an Oktoberfest atmosphere.
When the forests turn a brilliant red and gold, Carinthia shows its most romantic side. The crisp air, the soft light and the tranquil atmosphere make autumn the ideal time for connoisseurs and those seeking relaxation – whether on a walk through golden forests, at a wine festival or whilst sampling Carinthian delicacies.
You can still enjoy a good swim in Lake Ossiach until the end of September, and most of the mountain cable cars run until the beginning of November. Since we’ve been living in Carinthia, the peaceful autumn has become our favourite time of year.
When the mountains are cloaked in white, Carinthia is transformed into a winter wonderland. Whether it’s downhill skiing, cross-country skiing through snow-covered valleys or winter walking in tranquil natural surroundings – families in particular appreciate the compact, sunny ski resorts. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can enjoy the tranquil side of winter with regional specialities by the fireside; both country houses have a tiled stove.
The Gerlitzen Alpe: 14 cable cars and ski lifts, 60 kilometres of slopes – family-friendly and perfectly groomed. The Kanzelbahn valley station is just 5 km away. There’s also an ice rink, cross-country ski trails at Bleistätter Moor, Christmas markets and Krampus parades in early December in Villach, Feldkirchen and Klagenfurt – living traditions that are well worth experiencing.
